Awaken the Sleeping Giant Within
I don’t know about you but I truly believe that none of us are here by accident. Everyone has a purpose and we are given the resources – gifts and talents that are needed to fulfill that purpose. However, for many, these gifts lay dormant or are underutilized because they are:
NOT RECOGNIZED: Many of us genuinely don’t recognize our gold mine because we’re too busy
- looking at what others have or are doing
- comparing ourselves
- focusing on what we don’t have
- UNDERVALUED: Guilty! This has been my issue. Because certain things come natural to me, I use to give them away – FREE! or under price them most of the time. What I have come to realize is that ‘free’ isn’t always good because not only are we undervaluing what we have to offer but we are undervaluing ourselves.
NOTE: I am not saying that free is all bad but look at your motive first – why are you not charging? Is it because you think that you or what you have to offer is not worthy?
- TAKEN FOR GRANTED: “There is a lot where that came from” mentality. You may be right BUT remember this – NO ONE DO WHAT YOU DO THE WAY YOU DO IT! That is what makes you unique and special!
The more I do this work, the more I realize that many women fall in category #1 – they genuinely don’t know what they have to offer. I cannot tell you how often I have done workshops and I asked the participants – all women, to share what they were good at. In other words, what were the gifts and talents that they have to offer this world? This question continues to be a huge challenge for many!
Many of us were brought up to feel that owning our ‘specialness’ is bragging. I wonder if that is why we (women) still earn, on average, 77 percent of what men earn for the exact same work in a year? A statistic that has remained unchanged since 2005, according to the U.S. Census.
It is time to awaken that sleeping giant ladies and it starts by owning your greatness! That is your gifts, talents and what makes you wondrously you!
Charles Mackay once said, “People are more prone to believe the Wondrously False than the Wondrously True.”
The first step is this journey is to acknowledge and share what is Wondrously ‘positively’ True about you. I challenge you to share 5 of your wondrous truths with us in the comment section below!
There is a lot more to say about this topic, so I would love to hear from you. Remember, what you say may spark a breakthrough for someone who really needs it!
Until next time…
