Self-Improvement Tip: Trust The Process

Self-Improvement Tip: Trust The Process

th54XJB1I4“You must eat the elephant one bite at a time.” – Twi Proverb

I came across this quote and I had to laugh out loud when I read it and the accompanying passage because it was so relevant to me.

I am working on a project that involves details – my weakness! I am good at seeing the big picture and highlighting the steps that are needed to get it done. However, implementing minute details frustrate me a lot. Hence, just a few minutes earlier, I was thinking, if I could eliminate some of the steps, I could complete this project sooner.

You may be wondering what all this, including eating an elephant have to do with self-improvement, trusting the process, etc.?Well, everything has a beginning, middle and an end. No matter what the situation, we cannot get to the end without the other two. In positive situations we become excited and rush through the steps, missing one or two (sound familiar), because we want to see the outcome. In unpleasant situations, we rush through because we want it to end quickly. Despite the situation, positive or negative, we have to go through a PROCESS and TRUST IT!

This is important not only to projects but definitely relevant as regards to how we live our lives also. If we are going through life in a rush to get from point A to Z, there are so many letters that we may miss along the way.  All of which – together, makes up the alphabet. Slowing down and moving step by step has many benefits.  Some of which are:

  • It help you to relax and enjoy what you are doing.
  • You’re more likely to be open to possibilities and learn new things that can enhance your life. Side bar, I was watching a video with Dr. Oz  that said A Little Daydreaming Can Help Your Brain Function
  • Enhance the quality of your interactions and relationships

What other benefits do you see happening for you if you slowed down and begin to eat the elephant one bite at a time?

I really urge you to share this posting with at least one other person. You’d be surprise the difference it may make in their life.

Until next time…

In 2007, I started a company called Keepsakes by Faith whose main purpose was to inspire individuals using my art and inspiration words. The company evolved to meet our customers needs and today we are known as DISCOVER A NEW FUTURE. You may be wondering why. Our overall goal is to inspire individuals to be the best version of them self and we seek to do this by offering a wider array of services so we can meet individuals where they are. This includes personal development workshops, providing information, education and resources via our Discover A New Future show that airs weekly on Princeton TV, conferences, support groups and of course, art. So thanks for stopping by and please share your thoughts - it's the only way that we can grow!
